Coillte, in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, have announced the commencement of the €8 million construction project to re-develop Avondale Forest Park and House into a state-of-the-art visitor destination in the coming weeks of May.
The forest park is to remain open throughout the construction. However, certain pathways and walkways will be restricted to the public as construction works get underway.
Construction works will continue throughout the year with an opening date of the newly re-developed Avondale House and Forest Park expected in the spring of 2022.
Coillte asks the public to abide by all signage in place in the forest park.

Avondale Forest Park is the birthplace of Irish Forestry. Samuel Hayes built Avondale House in the 1770’s and he collected and planted a range of tree species from all over the world. The House moved into the ownership of the Parnell family in the 1800’s and was the birth-place of the great Irish statesman, Charles Stewart Parnell.
